Lawn Top Dressing and Fertilising
Top dressing and fertilising your lawn is one of the foundations of having the best lawn on the block. While similar in adding nutrients and encouraging growth in your lawn, top dressing and fertilising differ in one key aspect; that being, top dressing is capable of also helping to flatten and fill in any divots, leaving you with a beautiful flat lawn.
Top dressing involves applying a thin layer of soil containing beneficial nutrients and microorganisms across the top of your lawn, promoting growth. As mentioned, top dressing is also capable of smoothing over any divots and dimples in your lawn.
Fertilising focuses more on the nutrients + minerals (organic fertilising) within your lawn, as well as the chemicals, such as phosphate, nitrogen and potassium (inorganic fertilising) which will promote greener, faster growth. While most unfertilised lawns would benefit from either or both organic/inorganic fertilisation, it’s best to be cautious as applying too much of any fertiliser can be harmful to the health of your lawn. And just like us, each lawn is different!
Top Dressing
A layer of soil applied to the lawn containing lots of nutrients and microorganisms vital for lawn health and growth. Top dressing is used to revitalise dead patches of lawn and promote general lawn growth.
Organic Fertilising
Organic fertilisers are 100% natural and usually contain high amounts of healthy minerals for your lawn. Organic fertilisers are used for general lawn health.
Inorganic Fertilising
Inorganic fertilisers typically contain chemicals such as nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium. These fertilisers are used to promote green and lushious grass.
